Alphabet

You can visit the website below to print off letters that use a large and open font. Your student may want to color, paint, or decorate special letters such as the first letter in their name....or all the letters of their name. Printing "M' for mom and "D" for dad adds meaning to other letters of the alphabet.

For the students that are working on speech sounds you may want to print their target sounds and use them for the collage activity provided in a previous post!

Check out this link to print the letters you love!

Bowling: Another Articulation Game

Update!
Another idea to practice speech sounds is to use pictures with target sounds and tape them onto empty water bottles!  You can use the pictures that have been provided or you can search your own photo library or look for free images and clip art on the web. Search for photos that begin with the target sounds your child needs to work on such as /k/ for keys, kite and kitten or /t/ for top, ten and two. You get the idea!  Here is a link to help you create the game.  Have Fun!!

The original link disappeared so I updated with this one...the process is a little more complicated as they put paint in each bottle for a colorful touch. You don't have to do this...just use empty water bottles, tape on the pictures, and have your student name the ones that have fallen or the ones that are left standing. Oh, and you'll need a ball!

What is auditory bombardment?

Auditory bombardment is an exercise in which children hear a target sound accurately produced and several times in short period of time. For example, reading a story that has numerous occurrences of the target sound is "bombarding" the child with that particular sound. This gives the adult the opportunity to model, emphasize and repeat the sound correctly for the child to hear.

Other examples include the memory game, magnetic fishing game or Bingo games which are specifically created around one target sound; all the pictures begin with the same sound!

ID apparel

I am posting this mostely as a reminder for myself so that I can share the information with families as the need it. I came across an ID set of apparel for runners, bikers, etc....those that exercise away from home so that they could communicate where to find help in the unfortunate event that they collapse and need help.

Here are a couple of links....

And then I googled special needs children IDs and this is what I came up with.
